HP 82165A HP-IL/GPIO Interface - toml_12953 - 05-11-2024 12:02 PM

I have a couple 82165A interfaces and when I apply power, only the PWR light comes on. The T/R light remains dark. Is this normal? The reason I ask is that the HP-IL/RS-232 interface does a self-test and the T/R light comes on for a few seconds after power-up.

This initially confused me too. But quoting from the manual:

T/R Light. The transmit/receive (T/R) light goes on each time data is transferred across the GPIO bus. More technically, the light is on each time the DAVI or DAVO signal is true. The light is lit only for the duration of the transfer, so it will often appear to flash or blink.
