Questiion about charging Woodstock calculators - Namir - 05-19-2024 11:11 AM Is it OK to charge the new generation of NiCd batteries while inside Woodstock calculators? Namir RE: Questiion about charging Woodstock calculators - teenix - 05-19-2024 12:18 PM It's probably not so much new batteries as a poor connection to them, a corroded battery connector on the circuit board for instance. Anything that would cause the electrical load to reduce on the charger output will raise the voltage fed into the calculator circuitry and thus possibly destroy the ACT chip which is susceptible to this kind of damage. I actually think this only applies when the calculator is on charge, and it is turned on. When off, the battery and charger circuitry is isolated from the calculator circuitry, except for the C models. My view is, in the absence of any protective circuitry, it is best to charge the batteries external and avoid any risk and disappointment. cheers Tony RE: Questiion about charging Woodstock calculators - Namir - 05-19-2024 12:57 PM Thank you for your answer! I usually charge the batteries using the external Woodstock battery charger. However, not every owner of a Woodstock calcuator has them!
