41CL Problem - blackjetrock - 09-04-2024 02:17 PM

I have acquired a 41CL that was sold as not working. It has problems, but I have managed to power it up. However, even though the YFNS? function reports a position, the 4CL and YCRC commands give 'NON EXISTENT'. Is there an obvious thing I could be doing wrong that leads to this?

You did ask for obvious, so here it goes. Both the functions you mentioned are in the extreme functions module, they don’t exist on the CL as it wakes up. The location reported by YFNS? could easily be the one for the YFNZ module that can be used to kick start all the functionality

Do a catalog 2, if you see YFNZ that is the explanation, if you see YFNX then it is not obvious

Juan

Hmm, I do indeed see YFNZ, I'll read the manual again...

Just re-entered

ALPHA YFNX ALPHA XEQ ALPHA PLUG1L ALPHA

and now it works. I don't know what I mistyped, but I must have, somewhere. Thanks.

Glad you are past that hurdle, one more comment that may save you puzzlement, you may not have mistyped anything, if your unit is flaky it can accidentally disable the MMU, that would cause the symptoms you saw, so if it misbehaves again check the catalog 2 before pulling your hair

And of course you can check whether the MMU is still enabled, directly, with
Code:
XEQ MMU?

Many of us have found it also gets intermittently disabled when plugging/unplugging the serial cable, if fitted, even if you're careful to ensure the cable isn't powered at the time.
