(PC-1211 / PC-1) Sunset/Sunrise time - SlideRule - 10-11-2024 10:56 PM An extract from Shortwave Radio Listening with the Experts, SAMS, COMPUTERS and DX'ING, page 161 Fig. 10-6. The National Radio Club’s Sunset/Sunrise time computer program. SUNTIMES—A COMPUTER PROGRAM Ronald F. Schartz The following BASIC computer program is especially designed for use with the Sharp PC-1211 or the TRS-80 pocket computers. It is a simple but reasonably accurate program that will calculate the times of sunrise and sunset for any point on earth. While the version of BASIC employed by these units is surprisingly sophisticated for a computer that is only twice the size of most calculators, their limited memory and display area demand a relatively conservative, economical program philosophy as compared to larger systems; this is reflected in the foregoing program. Setting Mode to PROGRAM: [attachment=14105] Times are automatically calculated in UTC (GMT): local-time calculation can be performed by adjusting the longitude to your prime meridian; e.g., add “75” to the longitude for EST. Enter all “S” latitudes and “W” longitudes as negatives. The “Season” entry refers to the Northern hemisphere only. Comments on SUNTIMES are invited, preferably via Musings. BEST! SlideRule |
