Need Advice on Cleaning 48GX Battery Contacts - Jase - 10-28-2024 10:48 PM

Dang. I hadn't checked my batteries in a while, and just discovered corroded contacts on my 48GX, black screen edition.

Any advice or cleaning product recommendations is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Jase.

The usual recipe is white vinegar, which is acidic and reacts with the corrosion. Then water to kind of neutralize the vinegar. Finally, alcohol to remove any remaining residue and help the water evaporate.

Great confirmation.
After panicking, I went to YT and the video I found said the same.
It's not perfect, but MUCH better.

Thanks for the confirmation.
Also, done with Duracell. Ordered some Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries.

I don't think you can blame Duracell, but Lithium primaries are said never to leak.

They cost big money but I use only the lithiums in my gear since about 5 years ago. The older things get the more they become irreplacable...

I read that too, and that's when I decided to take the plunge.

YES they do! The AAAs I ordered from Jeff Bezos cost about $2.25 per battery.
But as you said, that will be worth it if they never leak.
Plus I read where people said they last a super long time.

We shall see.

my 2 cents. I no longer use disposable batteries, both for leakage problems and to preserve the excosystem. I only use low self-discharge rechargeable batteries. In the end they are also a financial saving.
