[HP-35s] How is it possible to "pre-program" - John Galt - 12-11-2014 01:54 PM

There is at least one eBay vendor advertising 35S calcs "pre-programmed" for use with various NCEES tests. For an example look for "HP 35S PRE-PROGRAMMED for the Electrical Engineering (Power) PE Exam". The listing specifically states (emphasis added) "The calculator provided in this package is brand new, the box has been opened only for the purpose of programming the calculator, ..."

I can't find any references to I/O in its manual so I am not aware of any external means of programming the 35S. How do you suppose they're doing this? Manually typing in every keystroke doesn't seem likely.

Why? I've seen similar offers a few times in the past and it was stated that it's done like this.

Although tedious, typing in the programmes could easily be accomplished by a low-paid menial.

My worry would be concerning quality control.

If they're getting a $125 premium just to key in some programs, more power to 'em.

Good to know I didn't overlook any undocumented I/O capability.
