WBT: HP-12 Prestigue - HP-Collection - 12-11-2014 07:17 PM There was a limited version of the 12C some years ago in Brazil. Unfortuantelly I only bought one of these units. Does someone still has a unit for sale? RE: WBT: HP-12 Prestigue - John Galt - 12-17-2014 11:02 AM Are you asking about the 12C "Platinum" model? They are very commonly available and not very expensive, compared to other discontinued HP calculators. Having said that, why are you interested in that particular model? They are not as well built as the earlier 12C models and I do not consider the Platinum to be particularly desirable. In my opinion the Voyager models that used three LR44 type batteries are preferable in build quality than the newer ones that use a single CR2032. My familiarity with the Voyager series is limited, so others may have more distinguishing criteria for you to consider. Limited production run only for Brazillian Market (but made in China), slightly different cosmetics but functionally a Platinum. Generally only of interest to collectors. Some go for crazy prices, but then that's collecting. I was just answering John as to why you wanted one, despite it's inferiority to other 12C machines. Collecting would be much easier, but also much less fun, if we only sought the 'better' machines. Much easier... RE: WBT: HP-12 Prestigue - Mark Hardman - 12-17-2014 09:45 PM (12-17-2014 07:32 PM)rprosperi Wrote: ...despite it's inferiority to other 12C machines. For those that complain about the poor choice of orange on off-white used on the Prime's keyboard, behold the HP12c Prestige: The orange on gold shifted keboard legends are completely unreadable! Still, as a collector I have to own a pair (one still MNIB!) Hello Matthias, There is a HP-12C Prestige that just appears on eBay at $140.00 USD. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-HP-Calculator-12C-Prestige-Near-Mint-/281546054150?pt=Calculators&hash=item418d73da06 Best regards, Sylvain RE: WBT: HP-12 Prestigue - rprosperi - 12-30-2014 11:45 PM (12-30-2014 10:29 PM)Sylvain Cote Wrote: Hello Matthias, I jumped briefly, then saw there is another $48 shipping to USA, so nearly $200 total. Even if it truly is near-mint condition, that's just wrong for a 12C... Sorry, but the standard price on eBay for a 12C Prestige has been between 100$ to 160$ USD in the last ~4 years. Welcome to my world, Robert, shipping outside of USA is outrageous. I have paid 39.95$ USD of shipping (Bresil to Canada) last summer for mine. No close-up photos, so you really can't see the condition $140 + $48 more for shipping 30 to 45 days delivery estimate from Brazil, after paying $48 shipping. Same seller as last one. Someone please tell me why this makes sense - the last one appears to have actually been sold. RE: WBT: HP-12 Prestigue - aj04062 - 01-15-2015 01:39 AM Bob! Are you trying to explain why all of us that collect HP's do what we do? I think I need to lay down on that big leather couch. ;O) |
