Hmm, that would be about a hundred bucks more than the earlier estimates. I'll probably wait for extremely glowing reviews before dropping that much.

ya you can buy a good used 42S for that much
I recently bought (a good one) on Ebay for $180
If you catch them new on Ebay you can sometimes get a pretty good deal.

True but they have old hardware in them, no warranty and certainly not the superb level of support given by the SwissMicros team!

if they ever become a reality.............
last year about this time I had heard they were to come out
in summer of 2016.

Oh yes, I have no doubt they'll be nice calculators, and will be released once they're ready, but can I personally justify spending some $300 for a dedicated Free42 machine? Well, that remains to be seen.

I like my 41L, but if it had been much more than the ~$140 I paid, I may have reconsidered.

If the final product is like the prototype I tested at the Allschwil meeting, they are going to be a must have. Metal case, nice keyboard with solid feeling, great display... This memory display from Sharp has an amazing contrast, you don't get the ghosting associated with a matrix lcd...

Yeah, I'd like the price to be lower but think it will be worth it to have a 42s that I can save programs off of and load them on quickly, the much bigger, nicer screen, and the ability to modify the firmware. Cool stuff!

If it's got a realtime clock with programmable alarms, IR compatibility with 82240 printers, and a speaker, I might be easier to convince.

Woowowoowooooo, is this calc made from jelly? Have a look at the center part of the screen!
I'm happy, Michael builds calculators and not cameras Wink I'll buy it for shure.

Same here. With import extortion (elsewhere known as taxes) alone those €250 would become €400+

Very nice, but shouldn't the lock screen show a sleeping goose? :-)

PERFECT suggestion BobVA.

We're never actually going to see the DM-42, are we?

The beta units are shipping so it shouldn't be too long before the final version ships. If you're interested in the progress, head over to
