HP-41CV in Space Shuttle - Martin Hepperle - 06-08-2016 12:35 PM Hi, maybe of interest for those who are interested in the application of HP calculators in in space (Gemini, Apollo, Shuttle) I have seen that the NASM now has a nice picture of the HP-41CV as used in the Space Shuttle at http://airandspace.si.edu/collections/group/guidance-navigation-and-control/?q=&nasm_only=0&rows=12&start=84#objects Regards, Martin RE: HP-41CV in Space Shuttle - Accutron - 06-08-2016 12:52 PM Here's a pic of three 41CVs aboard the STS with Sally Ride... http://www.decadecounter.com/vta/pict16/sally-ride-space.jpg RE: HP-41CV in Space Shuttle - Bill (Smithville NJ) - 06-08-2016 03:01 PM Hi Martin, It's great to see the space program connection with the HP-41. Over the years, I have tried to locate the programs that were actually used, but to no avail. I did get a copy of the: Hewlett-Packard 41 Calculator/Shuttle Portable Onboard Computer Training Manual. See previous post with some details of the manual: HP-41 Space Manual There is a reference to the "HP-41Flight Procedures Handbook". But I have never been able to find a copy of it. Of course the really big find would be the cassette tape with the original programs on it. I have always wondered if the HP-41 on display at the museum still has the modules in it and if these modules would still be readable. Great photo showing the 41. I wonder if the Philishave on the bulkhead behind Sally's chair was specially modified? |
