Why narrow box for new Thread/Reply ? - patrice - 12-13-2013 08:33 PM

Why do we have such a narrow box for new Thread/Reply ?
If using the full width, typed text would look closer to posted message.

There seems to be a way to change this easily by modifying the "cols" in the "textarea" specification on the various input templates. Only the forum administrator can do this however. The box is not resizeable and while it can be made larger for desktop/laptop PC's people posting to this forum on tablets or smartphone will not be pleased. The current width might be a good compromise.

I just did a quick test and this input box is actually wider than the old forum's input box -- in terms of default-size characters you can enter before the line wraps around.

IMHO a 'small' input area encourages the use of paragraphs. It's more to how people are used to read. Please don't change.

When the text wrap by itself as I type it, I tend to forget to do paragraphs. which would not be the case with a wide input box.
I think that at least a switch (button) to change to wide input box would be nice to me.
