What to do with XML update? - John Colvin - 11-24-2016 07:37 PM

I received a notification from HP today about an XML update. When I clicked the
download button on the HP Support Center site, it only linked me to the XML script. What am I supposed to do with this and what is it for?

Nothing to do with it, and these alerts are news to me...

If you look at it, you'll notice it just is a simple file that represents the current structure on the ftp. When using HTTP only for updates, you can't "browse" a directory like one might with FTP. Since FTP is blocked or problematic for some people, a small file that represents what files are there in order to support checking for updates is needed.
