RE: Printed HP 50g User's Guide and Advanced User's Reference manuals - 3rd batch - JDW - 10-02-2018 09:30 PM

It’s been two months since my last post and so far we’ve not had any details. Is that a sign this printing will never happen?

I am also interested in a set of manuals.

Me too

RE: Printed HP 50g User's Guide and Advanced User's Reference manuals - 3rd batch - JDW - 11-14-2018 09:32 PM

It’s now been 3 months since my last post, and still no updates. Suffice it to say, I’m becoming highly skeptical if there will be another printing.

RE: Printed HP 50g User's Guide and Advanced User's Reference manuals - 3rd batch - Zaphod - 11-14-2018 09:55 PM

I’ve just gone to a random print service website and enquired about a 600 page (their maximum) spiral bound printed book in A6 size......

https://www.bookprintinguk.com (there are many others offering this service.)

1 copy is £69 !
10 copies is £9.32 !

What’s stopping ten of us group buying our own ?

RE: Printed HP 50g User's Guide and Advanced User's Reference manuals - 3rd batch - cdmackay - 11-14-2018 09:59 PM

I thought there was an issue with copyright, i.e. print places that refuse to print copyright material?

RE: Printed HP 50g User's Guide and Advanced User's Reference manuals - 3rd batch - JDW - 11-14-2018 11:10 PM

If there is a silly issue with copyright, then HP should be printing these for us. Otherwise, HP should deal with a copyright issue so that there are no issues for us to get a printed anywhere we like.

As far as 10 of us grouping together, I’m all for it, but I’m not located in the UK. I’m in Japan.

So long as we can hurry up and make a decision and not be forced to wait in vain another three months, I say let’s get it going.

Printers won't do the print job without written permission from HP.

Maybe the next course of action is to get that permission? Why would HP object to us having a manual printed so that we can get the most out of their calculators? It's not as if we're robbing HP of anything because they don't print and sell the manuals themselves.

RE: Printed HP 50g User's Guide and Advanced User's Reference manuals - 3rd batch - JDW - 11-15-2018 10:49 AM

Be that as it may, the fact remains that “dizzy“ replied to me 3 months ago apologizing for having taken so long to reply back and saying that the only complication was one form of shipping he could not for anymore. Somehow, he in the past was able to print these excellent quality books, with or without permission from HP. Therefore, it would be best if “dizzy“ could do another print run for us since he was successful before and he can vouch for the great quality from his printer.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the delay (again). I know there is a lot of demand to get this done. Unfortunately a combination of procrastination and other demands on my time have held up the project.

We are printing these for personal use so I don't see why the copyright would be an issue... it hasn't been so far anyway!

I'm pretty busy this week but I'll see if I can get something rolling at the weekend or next week. If not, I'll do what I can to facilitate someone else managing the next print run.

Hi dizzy,

Someone (James?) has suggested printing the AUR for the HP Prime calculator. I think this would be a good idea and would take a copy of this as well as the 50g user guide that I've already expressed an interest in further up this thread.

If you need someone to take the organisation of this off your hands, send me a PM, but please be aware that I'll be away from home with only sporadic access to the internet as of Sunday for a little under a fortnight.

I'm UK based, like you, if that makes a difference.

That certainly varies depending on the country, town, day of the month, boredom of the guy behind the desk, etc.

I'm looking into to getting some printed here. I'll see if they have decent pricing.

Hopefully without dragging this off-topic, I would also be up for Prime manuals.

Nor do they even make the calculator any more...

It should be a no-brainer for HP to authorise .....either do a print run themselves (and make some money!) or give us free reign to print our own.....

The above was from November 2018. It's now January 2019.

Is there a magic button we can push to engage the printer?

:-)

None of us “have time.“ All of us are “busy.“ The fact is that we have to “make time.“ Dizzy, could you please make time to engage the printer this month?

Thank you!

Thank you!

You could organize a print run and worldwide mailer distribution yourself. Might be instructive...

So could you. Ponder that. :-)

It makes little sense to reinvent the wheel or otherwise mess up something good when goodness could come again. I am in Japan, not the UK. Different countries, different printers, different costs, different everything. Dizzy has a known good printed product. Starting fresh is a guessing game at best.
