Getting My Old 48GX to Communicate with My New Computer - hoytmonger - 12-17-2016 03:35 PM

I'm no tech expert, I'm a former surveyor that's now earning an engineering degree. I have a 48GX that was used as a data collector but I never learned to use it as a calculator. I find the 48 to be superior to the Prime for my purposes but it isn't as user friendly and I need some help getting it to communicate with my new computer so I can load programs. I've changed baud rates to no avail and hope someone here can help me out.

Thanks.

Try this link. The key is to get the correct USB-serial converter. The 2nd link is the one I use. Apparently the PL2303 chipset is one of the few that works correctly.

Good luck,

Thank you for the reply. I was using a FTDI FT232R converter I acquired on ebay. I'll give the PL2303 a try.
