hp 48g tried memory reset, calc looks near dead - john murphy - 01-22-2017 08:06 PM

I have had and used hp48g since 1997. recently interested in trying more programing, but calc has had some garbled issues, so tried memory reset. Finally I got the window which asks "try to recover memory?" Indicated "no" and calculator screen went very pale and showed only vertical lines. Took batteries out, put new ones in and same thing happened. New batteries will completely sapped.

Can anything be done to recover the functionality of the machine?

Did you try the reset hole in the back of the calculator, underneath one of the rubber feet?

Make absolutely certain the polarity of the battery insertion.
