HP 100LX/200LX motherboard transplant? - Dave Britten - 07-31-2017 08:35 PM Anybody know if a 200LX motherboard can be dropped into a 100LX case (and vise versa)? I know a couple of the application keys are different, just wondering if this is otherwise workable. My 200LX is definitely starting to show its age and wear, and I'm wondering if a 100LX body would be a less expensive body donor. I have several hybrid 100LX/200LX systems. The keyboard overlays and keys themselves can be transplanted. In fact, some of my 100LX donors had better display contrast than the 200LX's original case, so it might be an upgrade. A very important factor to consider in transplanting is the integrity of the right-side hinge and the lid just above where the hinge attaches. The hinge crack can be repaired if caught soon enough. Other good materials on repairs can be found here. Alan RE: HP 100LX/200LX motherboard transplant? - EugeneNine - 08-01-2017 01:16 AM Can new displays be found anywhere? The hinge crack on my 200LX was starting to get out of hand, despite repeated Super Gluings. I made one last ditch effort today by loosening the hinge (cut a couple turns off the spring inside it), and using plastic cement meant for assembling plastic/styrene models, so we'll see if that holds. If not, I'll just have to move the mainboard to a 100LX donor (and keep the 100LX board in case something ever happens to the one from the 200LX).
