Graph of X*Sin(X) incorrect HP50g - MullenJohn - 09-28-2017 01:59 PM Graphing the function X times Sin(X) displays a Horizontal Asymptote at positive 1. I am in radian mode using RPN. Can anyone tell me how to display the correct graph? Cheers! RE: Graph of X*Sin(X) incorrect HP50g - Brad Barton - 09-28-2017 03:48 PM Works correctly on my 50g. Did you clear the previous graph before you plotted x*sin(x)? Brad RE: Graph of X*Sin(X) incorrect HP50g - MullenJohn - 09-29-2017 04:31 PM Thank you Brad for responding. My Bad. I meant to use X times SIN(1/X). Cheers! RE: Graph of X*Sin(1/X) is fine - Dieter - 09-29-2017 05:58 PM (09-28-2017 01:59 PM)MullenJohn Wrote: Graphing the function X times Sin(X) displays a Horizontal Asymptote at positive 1. For the record: you now said that the function is x · sin(1/x). This function indeed approachs +1 as x approaches infinity: This means that 1/x approaches zero and thus sin(1/x) ≈ 1/x so that the limit is x · 1/x = 1. So there is no problem with the 50G. Dieter |
