Hi,

I got an HP Prime calculator for Christmas (I guess I was in the “nice list” by mistake).
The calculator came with software version 2016 04 06 (10024) so I decided to upgrade. I installed the connectivity kit (build: 2016 12 8 Rev:11226) on a Windows 10 (64-bit) laptop, as soon as I launched it downloaded FW version 20170710, so far so good.

Now, when I try to update the calculator, the progress bar on the computer disappears when it reaches 43%, the progress bar on the calculator remains there but not moving and nothing happens. I’ve tried different computers (Win 7 & Win 10, always 64 bits, USB 2 and USB 3 ports), I’ve even tried older FW packages but the calculator never gets the new firmware. I also tried a factory reset (format disk C).

I would think that what I’m doing is fairly simple, I upgrade gadgets all the time (part of modern life), am I missing something here? Is there a special song I have to play while doing this?

Any suggestion will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Andres.-

It seem to me you have so far updated to 2017 0710. If you want to update further to the Beta v3 go to http://www.hpcalc.org/prime/beta/ and download the firmware for the HP Prime. Unzip the file: HP_Prime_Calculator_Firmware_20171211.zip to:
HP_Prime_Calculator_Firmware_20171211
Next open your HP Prime Conn. Kit folder.
Locate the Firmware folder and replace the files in it with the files
from HP_Prime_Calculator_Firmware_20171211.
Start the Conn. Kit program and try the update again.

I would try to go into the connkit and uncheck the "Use New Updater" option. Try that once (Note: needs to be on a windows computer to work).

Once that gets updated one time, recheck that button and you will be good from then on. Some units with the "new" more reliable update on that firmware it came with did still sometime have problems running the update.

Thank you Tim for the suggestion, I'll give it a try when I get back from my trip.

Best regards.

Hi Bernard, I was just trying to update to the released version (not the beta), which it didn't take for some reason.

Thanks!

Andres.-

Hi Andres

By the way I may have forgotten to mention that the procedure I expressed was on a Mac not a Windows PC. I assumed it would also work on a Windows PC.
