Could someone explain to me the purpose of the blue wires?

It looks like normal old blue wire or bodge wire used to patch problems with the PCB at the factory. I just opened up my PC2, and it has no blue wire and there have been some minor changes to the PCB relative to yours. I'm guessing your PC2 is an early example without the finalized PCB trace layout.

So far, over the past several months, I've purchased two PC-2s fro TAS. Each arrived to reveal some sort of problem - one had flaky keys and the other could not hold a program. That last one is on its way back now. Funny problem. MEM showed 22xxx even though it was not expanded and, while I could type in program lines, they disappeared after being typed in, and scrolling up or down showed only empty memory.

I'd really like to get my hands on a good working PC-2, even if it had blue wires in it! 8)
