RE: fed up with prime
To be fair, using that logic, the 48SX had already been around for three years, in the forms of the HP-28C and HP-28S.

RE: fed up with prime
I'm programming on HP Calculators :
HP 67 and HP 41 with cards and/or tapes !
HP 48SX, 48GX, 49G, 50G
HP 40gs, 39gII

The HP Prime is a real BREAKTHROUGH with powerful programming language and (X)CAS.
So I developed large programs using Spreadsheet (as data files : cf Pentominoes).

I'm a math and computer science teacher and I offered two HP Prime at Xmas BUT I advised the students NOT to update with the new firmware. WHY ?
Because they will lost all data in APPS (it is so simple to save a Prime Spreadsheat in Excel File BUT NO TOOL to restore a spreadsheet from Excel file : cf TI)
Because Geometry has issues : plot a function, make a reflection, you can get the equation of the first curve (of course !) but now you cannot get the equation of the reflected curve (in the firmware 20131125, it works)

I'm waiting answers from Tim, Cyrille or so ...

Yes, and the underlying OS is even older (first use in the 18C).

The problem has already been mentioned by one beta-tester when it was about the 15C LE: Software complexity went up while time frame for beta-tests got smaller. That doesn't fit together, i.e. in the prolonged beta phase (hello customers!) even severe problems will likely be found. Not the programmers fault.

In my opinion it could be more helpful to post this errors and questions in individual threads with meaningful, speaking headlines.

RE: fed up with prime
I bought HP 50 around 6 month ago. In general I am satisfied but sometimes frustrated which is understandable. I do not write very large programs but only what I need to do stuff mostly in CAS. IMHO many of the problems come from the 2 modes HP 50G operates with, HOME and CAS that use large and small capital letters respectively, and that the two modes are not transparent with each other. In general the idea of HP 50G is a good one but the two not compatible and transparent to each other modes necessarily make all of it too complicated to use and manage.

I do not blame the guys who work on the OS software. The problem is with the HP company itself and changes in long term polices. To make it short: the problem is in general with the management of the HP company not with the guys who work on OS for the HP 50G. HP is not what it used to be and that is the main problem..
