It's likely to guide the paper, once it's fed inside, to the platten, but that's only a guess.

RE: 82240B printhead fried itself in a puff of smoke
I have repaired a couple of these and neither had this part inside. It looks like a tool that was fabricated by the previous repair person to ease the removal of the flat flex cable and was left inside by mistake.

It looks exactly like the kind of 'tool' all the instructions describe for inserting into the flex cable to release the end. --Bob Prosperi |
