Something SM said will not do. The source code of the 41 NUT OS is available and widely known; it has been released under NOMAS conditions since 1983. There are also some useful extensions included in the 41X ROMS compiled/written by Angel Martin - please contact him if you'd like to see those. The source code of the emulation layer is not available, so things that cross the NUT/Emulation boundary will not be feasible for 3rd parties. --Bob Prosperi |

I’ve been told that the link to register an interest in buying a DM41X may be buried somewhere in this article - can someone point me to whereabouts please?

RE: DM41X
Hi there
Just ordered a DM41X, currently own DM16, DM16L, I have some questions, perhaps answers in thread sorry if I missed. 1. Are the key markings on the device different than the Voyager clones? I found that the decals started coming off my 16L after a month or so. Disappointing as the devices build is excellent. 2. Any HP module supplied (in software I think I heard)? and is there a source for (.mod) modules that are also available free, I mean a web link repo. Not trying to break copyright here, only free stuff. Thanks and stay safe. Ed HP-28S (1988 US model), DM41X (2020) |

RE: DM41X
Hello,
I am now a proud owner of a new DM41X. First impressions- Amazing product! Working through the manual, I did have an issue though: How to activate the USB disk on a Mac? I plugged into into the USB port on my Mac then SETUP / FILE> / 5. Activate USB Disk. But I don't see it mounted in the Finder. Perhaps operator error? I'm running macOS Catalina (10.15.7). Thanks, Steve |

The port is recessed kind of far into the case, and unless you're using a cable with an especially long connector, you might not be getting a good (or any) connection. If you have a cable with a soft rubber shield on the plug, you can use a small knife to trim it back and allow the plug to go all the way in without the shield hitting the calculator's case. |

RE: DM41X
As I'm putting the DM41X through it's paces, where is the best place to post bugs/issues (so far I've noticed an issue with loading RAW files from the FAT disk)? Is there a support email address, or perhaps I should sign up on the swissmicros forum? I do see a 'Software Issues' forum but I wasn't sure if that was mainly for beta units? I don't want to weight down this forum if there are better reporting channels.
Thanks! Steve |

It's best to post them on the SwissMicros Forum in the DM41X Software Issues subforum, here: https://forum.swissmicros.com/viewforum.php?f=26 That area was used for bug discussions during the Beta phase, but now is used for released f/w as well. It would be much more reasonable if a suitable USB cable were included in the scope of delivery. Above all, that would help avoid a lot of frustration and anger on both sides. It is remarkable that the manufacturer has not responded to this problem to date. __________________________________ "Move forward and do what you think is best. RE: DM41X
This seems to be a tolerance issue with the board/case assembly.
My DM42 requires a trimmed cable but my DM41X is happy with any cable that I throw at it. My Collection: 55, 67T, 25PLP, 34C, 15C, 16C, 41CV, 41CX, 41-CL, DM41X, DM42, 42S, 48G, 71B, 75C, 95LX, HP-150, Portable+, HP-86, Integral PC. |

Whether it's a tolerance problem or a misconstruction doesn't matter as a cause, the manufacturer has known this for a long time and still has no adequate solution to offer. Compared to the price of the device actually incomprehensible! __________________________________ "Move forward and do what you think is best. If you make a mistake, you’ll learn something.
