RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
I ordered mine at Calcuso in Germany on July 10.
According to their website it's not available yet. A Swiss calculator store indicates an availability in September... |

FYI to anyone who has ordered one to leave "sealed brand new in box" - mine had the batteries already installed so if you're going to put it in storage you'll need to break the seal and remove the batts. EDIT: to be fair now I look at the packaging it does say "battery inside this product". 10C, 11C, 12C, 15C LE, 15C CE, 16C, 21, 32S 50th aniv., 32Sii, 35 v4, 35S, 42S, 97, Prime G1 |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
Hello,
I have received mine Yesterday (from Oxford Educational Supplies), had a quick look in the evening and I liked the packaging. Did not find time to play with it yet. |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
Received mine today. I ordered two from Edustore (Holland), I live in Belgium, so transport didn't take long. The two I ordered come with serial numbers 01171 and 01172. Key quality and detail look perfect to me.

I don't think they're doing that anymore with the regular mass produced units, now it's normally just limited to a batch number. Must be a perk of being a "Collector's Edition". |

And a prime number, which means that, for some obscure reason, it will have a greater value on eBay.

Hello,
Also received in Belgium this morning, with "Collector's Edition Number 01137", and also happy with the keyboard but I don't have DM's to compare... |

I received mine in the US Midwest yesterday (07/26) from Oxford Educational Supplies. "Collector's Edition Number 01753" - also a prime number.

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
Hello, registered to share my experience.. I got the 15CE today, and was very pleased during the unboxing, the keys feel nice. Unfortunately the happiness did not last very long, the keyboard feels great but is not working very well. I get unresponsive keys and double key registration. Anyone else experience this? (key 6 in the attached mp4)

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
Has anyone else noticed any key-bounce issues? Maybe I'm pressing the keys wrong.

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
IIRC somebody indicated a while ago, that the CE and LE share the same hardware.
So if they ("hp") didn't change the key contacts, it's likely both CE and LE also share the same HW issues;-) -- Ray |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
The LE key bounce could have been corrected by an appropriate timeout. I have always thought that it wasn't implemented in the emulation layer and those developers were relying on the original code, which didn't work correctly on fast hardware.
However, I bought the CE since my LE bounces. And now comes this information. I expect Moravia to release an update to fix this. |

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
I have been using my HP15c CE prototype for 2 months without issue - I remember commenting that finally I could trust the calculations while keying without looking at the screen.
My unit had serial number DTV04 - must have been just a prototype. |

I guess software won't fix the keys not registering.

RE: NEW: HP 15C Collectors Edition
The keys for the 15c CE are definitely not exactly the same as the LE as that was made in China and the 15c CE made by a different company in Philippines. The newest 12Cs also come from Philippines and the 2 units I have from there have been perfect with no missed or repeated strikes.
Also, more often these days than in classic "HP times", there is dust/dirt and oils on the material surfaces which can and do interfere with precise key clicks. Most often pressing a troublesome key 20-50 times "cleans" the dirt/oil/etc. and the key settles down and behaves more consistently as expected. I have no idea at all if this is the case here (I don't have a CE yet) but it is advice well worth trying, as it may clear the problem and will do no harm if that's not the cause. --Bob Prosperi |
