HP 15C LE keyboard repair

Now that the CE is coming, I'm in the mood of repairing my LE. It has been done but seems to be not without difficulties. So, my question is:

The cleaning procedure can cure the missed keystroke problem, but will it cure the bouncing? My LE always registers, but sometimes bounces on random key strokes. I don't remember if this was normal with the LE, hence my question.

Yes, I do. But mine (the one from the two that I took out of it's box) does not have keyboard problems so I did not investigate repair options. I do remember that there were some threads about LE keyboard problems shortly after it came out. Maybe they still can be found?

I participated in those threads but it was never clear to me whether bouncing was a general problem or not.

The divide key on mine was repeating. Djj's repair procedure (discussed here) fixed it.

My well used 15C LE doesn't have the bouncing keys issue.

It does have the rattling ON and shift keys issue though. I believe this is common.

Great, thank you. Have you used the same machine screws/taps for reassembling?

Thanks to you, too. Yes, it's unavoidable, but judging from videos, to a varying degree.

Yes! It worked perfectly using the parts Djj suggested.

Thank you all! I mostly followed Djjs contribution and was able to repair the LE keyboard (better late than never).

Two remarks:

(1) I found no visible debris, but nontheless cleaned all contacts

(2) I removed the posts completely and inserted some flat sponges between case and PCB. Works :-).

Quite happy with the result, allthough, of course, the missing brownout detection is still a problem. But it can now be used as calculator.

Unfortunately not, but the reassembling is obvious. Be careful to reapply the adhesive with all the domes so that the holes match, but I had no problems with this part. Good eyesight (through glasses) and lots of light were helpful.

And keep in mind to reinsert the spring back into the front cover.

BTW, as cleaning agent I used this spray they sell for LCD monitors.
