What is the same on the HP-11C and HP-15C, different on the HP-16C and not present on the HP-10C and HP-12C?

Although I clearly have something in mind, there are probably many correct answers.

Hi Thomas!

Could you be thinking of indirection?

The 11C and 15C share the same keys for (i) and I, but 16C uses some other keys for the same.
And 10C and 12C has no indirection at all ...

GSB is in the same place on the 11C and 15C, a different place on the 16C, and nonexistent on the 10C and 12C.

To add to what Mike wrote. The HP-11C and HP-15C allow alpha program labels A-E. The HP-16C allows alpha labels A-E and F. The HP-10C and HP-12C do not allow alpha labels at all, only numeric labels.

I will also add that while the HP-11C, HP-15C and HP-16C all support alpha labels for programs, the HP-16C does not have a USER mode to execute alpha labeled programs with one key press like the HP-11C and HP-15C.

I think the HP-10 model number may be the most overloaded HP model number used where the different models have nothing to do with each other.

HP-10 -- Handheld Printing Adding Machine.
HP-10C -- Basic Scientific Programmable Calculator.
HP-10B -- Basic algebraic business calculator. Followed by the HP 10bii.
HP 10bii+ -- Basic algebraic business calculator with scientific functions. Still in production.

The HP-27 and HP-27S were substantially different in their function set but were somewhat related in their "do-everything" philosophy.
"The HP-27S was another "do-everything" calculator. While it was called a "Scientific Calculator" it also had statistics, Time Value of Money with loans, savings and amortization schedules, plus date arithmetic, time and appointments. Like the first "do-everything" model, the HP-27, the HP-27S didn't do programming."

Indeed overloaded!! And you're still missing thesee 10 models:

The 10B came in 2 color schemes (initially white labels on bezel, later green labels)
There were 2 very different looking (but functionally the same) 10BII models
-The "Gold" 10BII - with rounded top and bottom (same style as 2nd 17BII)
-The "Silver" 10Bii - same style design as the 10bii+ which followed it
The HP-01 fridge magnet calculator packaging was labeled "HP-10"

Yet there were plenty of numbers still available: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 13, 23, 24, 26, etc. though I can understand not choosing HP-13!

LOL... it really is the worst case. When I was writing the list, I paused... thinking... there's another one I think... but could not come up with it. And now I've recalled how when a person has been traumatized, their brain will block out the memory as a form of self-preservation...

These models really are the lowest of the low. A tragic ending to a long, proud tradition.

In a recent Post #7 I noticed the following difference between these two models:

HP-15C

Code:

   001 { 42 21 11 } f LBL A
   002 {    22 11 } GTO A

HP-16C

Code:

   001 { 43 22  A } g LBL A
   002 {    22  A } GTO A

I had to double check with an emulator, but I've never noticed before that the HP-16C uses alphanumeric labels like A whereas both the HP-11C and HP-15C use the coordinates of keys like 11.
And both the HP-10C and HP-12C don't support labels at all.

Since the number 13 is considered bad luck in some cultures why not make an HP-13 calculator that calculates probability and statistics.

In addition to normal probability and statistics it could have the following features:

Lottery Number Picker based on previous lotteries
Odds calculator for lottery and gambling games with predictable odds (black jack, roulette, etc.)
Pseudo Random Number Generator

Please note, tongue firmly implanted in cheek?
