TI CC-40, TI-74, TI-95 RAM Hex BUS adapter and CC-40 RAM/ROM cart
Hi all,

My friend that has designed the Backpack drive created an HEX bus interface for it which will also let you create a USB connection. So, you can load/save to the Backpack or to USB (serial). It also lets you daisy chain other Hexbus devices. This will work on the CC-40, TI-74 and should work on TI-95, TI-99/4A but has not been tested.

He also did 16 x 32 RAM/ROM cartridge board for the CC-40.

I'm trying to gauge interest for him to see if anyone else would be interested in these items. We are producing a bunch of stuff at present and would also offer these if there is interest but don't want to waste time/money if there is not.

EDIT: Products now released, I have updated this first post to make page links easier to find. More below on Post #: 11

I'd be interested, depending on price. Also, I'd be interested in a 32K (or higher) RAM module for the TI-74/TI-95! TI used to offer a 32K RAM for the 74 and 95 but it was only sold to developers and was very rare.

RE: TI CC-40, TI-74, TI-75 RAM Hex BUS adapter for solid state storage (CC-40 RAM)
I'm new to the TI-74, does this new hardware allow transfer to and from the device or provides a ROM emulator (so the optional ROMs could be loaded) or both?

I'd be interested depending on price (including postage to AU).

RE: TI CC-40, TI-74, TI-75 RAM Hex BUS adapter for solid state storage (CC-40 RAM)
Hello Jeff

Besides the Sharp PC1600, I also really like the TI CC40 as a non-HP computer. Unfortunately, the biggest problem with this computer is that you couldn't save programs to an external medium.

If you have more information about the HEX Bus -> USB, I would be very grateful, that is, I am interested.

Best regards,
Tobie

There was a disk drive for it. It didn't sell many units.

RE: TI CC-40, TI-74, TI-75 RAM Hex BUS adapter for solid state storage (CC-40 RAM)
Now I've seen the manual for this device I'd definitely like one - as soon as possible :-)

I'd buy with the Backpack (BPD+) which will look like a drive (ID 100) to my TI-74 so that the assembly language loader can be installed and assembly language programs can be loaded (along with save/load of BASIC programs).

I assume it will come with the option of one or more plug in interface adaptors for the various supported models (TI-74, TI-95 and CC-40).

So, when can I order and how much? :-)

I missed this somehow when it was announced, so I'm late replying that I'm interested in this.

@dmh - Where did you get a manual, I'd like to take a look?

I have been tied up with other things the past few weeks so I'm just not getting the manual uploaded.

Great! I just ordered two - one for my 74 and one for my 95. At only $10 USD each, they're a bargain.

RE: TI CC-40, TI-74, TI-95 RAM Hex BUS adapter and CC-40 RAM/ROM cart
Sorry, I'm not sure what happened there. The CC-40 boards are NOT $10, the BOM is way more than that. The initial build quantity of boards was 10 so I must have accidentally copied that to the stock quantity and price. Sorry. Price fixed. Order canceled so you can review actual price and make up your mind.

Again, sorry for the big mistake on my part.

RE: TI CC-40, TI-74, TI-95 RAM Hex BUS adapter and CC-40 RAM/ROM cart
Someone asked a question via email about what adapters they might need. I thought

TI came out with 'Dockbus' and 'Hexbus' which are the same thing with a different connector. The CC-40, TI-74 and TI-95 have the Dockbus type connector (8 pins in single row). Some devices might have the 'Hexbus' type connector (8 pins in two rows of 4).

The Hexbus adapter comes with a Docbus type connector so it can plug directly into the CC-40, et. al. You can also use a DOCK2IDC and a ribbon cable to plug the CC-40 into the adapter.

Hopefully that helps. The whole Hex/Dock bus situation is chaotic as TI did not bother to support it well.

It looks like Backpack 2 isn't available at the moment, will both of these be available at the same time as you need both?

Even at $30.00 (That is the correct price, isn't it?) it's still a bargain!

I'll have more Backpacks in the near future. You can also use the USB connection to transfer files to a PC.
