82104a Firmware Version

Hi,
Does the firmware version of the HP-41 card reader really make a difference as to whether it will read certain cards only written by that same version?

Or will any firmware version read cards written on a different version card reader?

The magnetic cards should be interchangeable regardless of the card reader ROM version.

Thanks… that’s what I thought, but there’s an eBay auction I’m interested in for the card reader and the seller makes a statement that different cards might not be read by his unit. Might just skip this one…
