Realize this is an old thread but did you ever find a manual for either model?
Thanks, Don |

RE: Manual Sharp PC-3600/2600
No. But I have found a obscure picture of one!
https://x.com/Dream_Library_/status/1279571700061880321 --be sure to scroll up, as this link typically goes to the 2nd picture Shows a PC-3600 with some manuals. Its hard to tell if they are in English or Japanese. I sent a note to this user years ago and received no reply. ??Also, I think, there is a "regular" web page associated with this user--can't begin to remember how that was determined. But sent a note to that page also--likewise no reply. Maybe it was a webpage that simply had that picture. Even if they were in Japanese, nice things about scans with all the tools one can OCR them. And if nothing else cut/paste into Google translate. That's what I did with that page. If someone can figure out how to communicate with that user, it'd be swell if we'd be able to obtains scans of the PC-3600 manuals, along with the Canon SX-300. For history buffs, if you scroll down just a bit you'll see a couple of pictures where they claim one is of Bill Gates and the other Jeff Soros. It looks like they were both about 10 years old. Supposedly they were using TSS. I don't know what that is. The only TSS I knew was IBM's TSS/360--a rather little known OS to most. Oddly it almost had a cult following, so IBM continued with TSS/370. Personally I always wanted to try it out; wonder'd if it'd be an "experience" or not. .... Seems to me the last user was a large, well known corporation (General Electric??) into the 90's. ---- OH! Probably DEC's TSS/8. Wish I had a PDP-8 to play with myself. |

RE: Manual Sharp PC-3600/2600
Interesting. The page now belongs to a computer museum in Japan but no way to email them that I can find.
I am having a PC-2600 shipped to me from Great Britain. I know I am taking a chance that it will arrive intact. In addition to a manual, I am also on the hunt for the magnetic cards and printer paper. I have found some aluminum coated paper in rolls but it is about an 1/8" wider than required so not sure if it will fit. May have to cut it down. Don |

I'm so used to certain quirks of Twitter/X it never dawned on me of different behavior for others. Shortly after Musk acquired Twitter, access to other user's pages changed. Often you had to log in to see them. That's how I always use Twitter/X. I tried what you mentioned, logged out, and indeed you only see the one picture. When logged in you can also click the translate button just below text to see English. So if you don't have an account follow these links: https://x.com/Dream_Library_/status/1279570578664419329 (the scroll up picture mentioned) https://x.com/Dream_Library_/status/1279571700061880321 The immediately following posts comment on the Japanese government trying to incorporate early calculators and computers into education. Guess you'll have to log in to see that. But one of those posts reference a sample program. I recognize that code. So you Canon SX-100/300 users might be interested: https://x.com/Dream_Library_/status/1279592106529452033 The history buff links with Gates & Soros: https://x.com/Dream_Library_/status/1279616206752763904 https://x.com/Dream_Library_/status/1279628933936279554 If you go to the base link: https://x.com/Dream_Library_ you'll see its a currently active page. And mentions a "museum" website: https://scitech.or.jp/ I find no way to e-mail either. Maybe Japanese users can figure out a way. With the minor translation I've done https://scitech.or.jp/ does not accept "commercial requests." So I assume if you want to buy a copy/scan of a manual that's out. I'd say typical of museums. However, if someone is fluent in Japanese it might be worth inquiring if that website or other Japanese sites maintain an archive of antiquated technical documentation. Such as is done in the USA with archive.org. Or similar to the documentation set here on HPMuseum. |

Thanks, that's much better!!
I spend lots of time being sure I'm logged out of everything when I leave, they're already monetizing me enough without making it easier for them... --Bob Prosperi |
