RE: FRAM71B... LAST CALL
Put me down for a 1MB unit (or 512KB if no 1MB units produced) if they're going to be available again.

Is there a photo of the FRAM71B available?

Yeah, I'm late in asking, and at this time can't afford to buy one.

Since Brueggeman seems having retreated in that subject, a new version should be done (with PICO like the Tupli for HP41?). I will have a look when I have more time.
Any other person working on RAM devices for HP71B can step into the discussion here?

A huge undertaking. I doubt there'll be anyone interested.

It may be easier to persuade Hans to share the design files and DIY a module. This option won't last forever as parts become obsolete.

EDIT:

This month is the 10th anniversary of FRAM71, although prototypes may have been available sooner.

RE: FRAM71B... LAST CALL
It would seem decent to open source the design if manufacturing has ceased, wouldn't it??

Cheers

RE: FRAM71B... LAST CALL
Decent or not, its the decision of the designer to disclose or not.
Lets have a look at simplified extreme behaviours:
- capitalists: they will steal everything in order to save money and make bigger money only for them.
- commies: they suck anything to enslave others (in fact similar to the above: its everytime a question of power and control)
Its the decision of the designer to give or not the knowledge he has placed in the design.
Knowledge is the only immaterial data which are in the brain others cannot access and keep anybody away from poverty. A bit like knowledge is the last defense line against slavery.
It means sharing data and knowledge, is a gift to others and this is a decision of every person. There are several reasons not to share knowledge and it must be imho be respected (in that case, a reverse engineering can be started; can be at an enormous effort but thats the price for having a similar product). It means, all people here in this forum sharing their knowledge and recommendations are making daily gifts to others. THANK you all (and to the others who have a reason to not share specific knowledge, for a reason I could not identify).

RE: FRAM71B... LAST CALL
Well said. Given that the likelihood of projects for the HP71b making anyone rich being close to zero, it really is (should be) IMHO about gifting a community of hobbyists some fun in a way that ensures the load on funds, time and resources is respectfully appropriate and managed... Happy to help where I can!

Just my 10c

Cheers
Andy
