41CL V5 Time Module Hardware functionality

Just wanted to ask if anybody has reliable information on the Time Module Hardware functionality of the new V5 board: Does it do without having a physical Time Module plugged in?
I think I've read about this topic here in the Forum the other day, but can't retrieve it :-(
