The only calculator I normally use is one of the HP 41 variety.

This is the most complete list of handheld/portable calculators (battery powered) that I believe were produced and sold by HP. I purposely listed them all so that the guru's participating in this forum could correct my errors. Please specify which items you do not think were produced, so I can correct my assumptions, and get closer to my goal of having them all - (really delusional goal). I admit I am confused about the 38, 39, and 40 series.

Seems like you've just copied Craig Finseth's list... A reasonable starting place, but it's clear that maintenance was abandoned there at some point.

Never made/introduced: 19BII+, 38G+, 40G+

Many are named in your list ending in "A" that never had that in their name (70A, 81A, 45A, 55A, etc.)

Missing:
10BII Silver (assuming Gold is on your list)
10BII+
17BII Gold (assuming the Silver is on your list)
10S+
300S
300S+
14B 50th Ann Ed.
32S 50th Ann Ed.

Also, most Pioneer models came in at least 2 different versions with differing LCD bezels, color schemes, etc.

Others probably missing too, these are from memory.

I have seen one long ago in an auction which was a fake. It appeared the seller had marked the model name to add the "+", I suppose to try to sell it higher, the notes had no specifics. Likely not the same one.

Oh well, a fake is always around the corner but that photo had a legitimate look. IIRC it was about 15 years ago.

The 38G+ was never introduced but prototypes were built.

You can find a pretty detailed list of all HP calculators that were/were not introduced up to the HP 30b in 2010 in the HP Solve newsletter issue 20 page 21.

Ah, the one I saw was not that long ago, so likely a fake, pretending to be like the real one you saw. Didier's post below shows they did exist, Jake posted a photo of one.

Great memory and good catch on the 300 series. I also edited my list and added the 30B and 38 G II. I don't want to inadvertently spread any bad information.

True, adding the "A" suffix to the model number is technically wrong, but I think the convention is well understood.

Do the Gold and Silver editions vary in any sort of functionality?

Color schemes, short or tall keys, Anniversary emblems, etc do not personally interest me. Thats just cosmetics. If they are somehow functionally different thats another story.

My mistake, I should have mentioned 17BII+ has 2 versions (not 17BII).

I believe the 10BII Silver (2008) is supposed to be functionally identical to the 10BII Gold (2001), but the case design is sufficiently different I'd say it needs to be considered a different machine (i.e. a much larger change than the other cosmetic things you mention). There are likely minor functional differences (bugs).

Similarly, The 17BII+ Silver is ostensibly functionally identical to the 17BII+ Gold (2003), but again, the case design (and keys, and LCD and overall quality of finish) is so different that it must be considered a different machine. These models share some key bugs, so possibly are actually functionally the same.

I own, but have not personally used either of the Gold models. Eww. Cooties.

This is my first post in the new version of hp museum forum.

I own more or less 250 programmable devices too long to copy the list here + more or less 30 non programmables calculators not listed in my site. Yes I’m a collector.

Calculators I often use are few. TI SR 52, TI 57, HP 67 (the most beautiful calculator ever made in my opinion). I also use HP 41 CX but as an ipad app. I wish I will have time enough to play with my HP 29C a small calc I like a lot. Currently I’m testing an Elektronika MK 85.
