RE: DM42 News
Excellent, (and a nice way to implement that feature). Thanks!

I'm not sure how the serial numbers work here: I ordered two on the same order and receive SN 429 and SN 210 so I don't think they are handing them out sequentially per se

Personally, I'm glad they focused more on shipping quickly than processing orders in sequence. Sometimes raw desire beats out OCD... --Bob Prosperi |

I have just noticed that one of the key (the most upper left (help)) has a different feeling than the others. Nothing critical if it stays that way. The most surprising is the weight of the calculator ;-) Mine just arrived today. Less than a week from Swiss to NJ. That was fast. I too am very impressed with the quality and the heft. Looking forward to using it. ......Art |

Shouldn't you wait until Christmas before you open your Christmas gift...?

But my wife knew what it was so I can't open it now for a week until Christmas! She is a keeper lol. |

RE: DM42 News
I don't think it's scrap rate
What I do know is that the calculators' backs were not ordered by serial number in the package that Michael received with the parts in it. Some discontinuity in numbers sent out is to be expected. Look at it this way, everyone has a more or less equal chance of getting the lowest serial number that way, not necessarily the first person to order a DM42 |

RE: DM42 News
Another unit received in the US only 7 days after ordering. Since it was a Christmas present to myself, I opened it right away :-). Very impressive, looking forward to playing with it over the holidays.

DM42 Integration application
I have observed a strange behavior on my DM42. Using the numerical integration application I just checked it for integrating cos(x) from 0 to Pi. As soon as you ask for an accuracy better than 0.1 the time spent for integratingis very long. In fact I have had to sop the integration before end. If you change the domain of integration with such a small quantity as 10^-10 either on zero side or on pi then the convergence is way faster even for a very good accuracy.
I have checked the behavior of Free42 on Windows and Android. The behavior is similar: takes way longer if the domain is exactly 0,Pi. The problem appears only on the decimal version. The binary just works fine. On Windows the integration ends up slowly but it ends. I’m puzzled. It seems to be related with the use of the decimal library. If somebody has an idea? Is it a bug or a feature ;-) Regards |

Probably in the termination condition. I'll have to look into that. |

RE: DM42 News
I don't know if this is a bug or not, but on the original HP 42s when using the Alpha entry, you could hold down the shift the entire time and select lowercase characters without letting go. That doesn't seem to be the case with DM42 (or Free42 iOS), where it requires shift for each additional character.
