No, I found 3 at ~5 EUR each. And yes I would take them too but I cannot, alone, fix the wastage (not only of calculators).

Moreover if I cannot really use them, it is like wasting them as well. For me something is not wasted when the owner is happy to have it, although unused. I won't be happy to have 2+ TI89 due to the difficulty for me to use them among all the other models.

I have already one (got for free) that I barely use. Just the last week I installed tichess to use it a bit. And maybe I will use it also for some little formulas when the 506w cannot help much.

Speaking of the HP 50g, I bought my third one not quite two years ago on Amazon for $51.95 USD including sales tax. It still sits unused in my closet inside its sealed package. Now, the best asking price for a new 50g is about eight times that amount. Although I own an HP Prime, I use my two HP 50g calculators much more, and consider them to be the best Chinese era calculators that HP has sold. My first HP 50g is over nine years old and the keyboard still works perfectly.

I also attend flea markets in order to get calculators I already have and I know could interest for exchange or sale other collectors.

Flea markets, yes. This I forget to do. I always forget that the goods on ebay and similar sites are a fraction or the ones (not used) in the house of people.

Anyway I got a fx 9860g (casio) . I thought that the 50g was the only system (before the generation prime, nspire, casio fx-cg10/20/50) that could run entirely on the usb but it is not true. It seems that the 9860 series can be powered by USB only (with the same USB cable for the 50g, a USB mini B).

I wonder if the 9850, 9750 and 7400 series can do it as well.

Buying a ziplock bag of calculator parts that had been striped down for gold salvage but still had the circuit boards attached (missing plastic parts only) for $2 (plus $3 shipping) on TAS. Noticed it by chance due to lots of HP41 parts and modules.

I can confirm that my 9750gII can also be powered by USB. I did some poking around in manuals, and it seems that both the 9750gAU and 9750gAU+ can be powered by USB.

The manuals I could get show that earlier revisions such as the 9850 series, the 9750G+, 7400G+ and 9750GA+ can't be powered off a USB connector, as they don't have one. Heck, it seems the 7400G doesn't even have a connector to connect it to anywhere else.

For me, 2 x HP calculators free Smile

- A HP-28S + french manuals. No battery door, but I had a second one. So the calc is fully functionnal. A gify from a friend of my father. He gave it to me so happy to see the calc working again.
- A HP-21 + leather case. Battery look good but I have no power supplier to see if it is working.

It might be a stretch, and so far I haven't seen any "official" documents that specifically state the calculator can be powered, other than my own experience with my own calculators. I plugged in my 9750gII, hoinked a battery out, and the calculator kept on running. I did of course plug the battery back in before I pulled out the USB, no sense in losing everything.

Now I hope I have enough 50g systems that can backup each other.

1st end 2010 from the Us on ebay: 95 euro
2nd spring 2017 from Germany (not Berlin) on ebay: 43 euro
3rd March 2018 from Germany (not Berlin) on ebay: 53 euro
4th April 2018 from Germany (8km from me) on ebay classifieds: 40 euro

What I learned is that there are high possibilities that people don't sell , rather they reply to search announcements (as they ensure a quick transaction instead of waiting).

Wow, best deal I have seen in a long time!! That's 200-300€ less than a typical 42S sale on eBAY; sometimes taking a chance pays off, and even more rarely, sometimes 'untested' means simply 'untested'.

Sounds good! I haven't been able to find any decent calculators on the flea market for years. Maybe I should try again next weekend... Meanwhile I won the auction for a nonworking HP-25 for 25 Euros. Not my best deal, but a decent one considering the rarity of good Woodstock LP donors!

Was the 25 on ebay.de? I haven't looked fore a while...
