RE: HP Prime out of stock on Amazon and HP Site
HP would appear to be dropping calculators altogether.
On the HP UK site, the only ones advertised are the 17bII+, 10bII+, 300s+ and 10s+. The 17bII+ is "low stock" and the others are "currently out of stock". It's quite something when the erstwhile leader in the field can no longer sell you a single scientific calculator. |

Where on amazon did you look? In Germany and in the US there are enough offers.

Hello!

Amazon Germany has only three left (as of Feb. 17 2018) and the HP Germany is out of stock already. So it really looks as if they were on short supply. But maybe just the cargo ship from China is being delayed by some unfavorable currents and winds. |

Maybe the manufacturer is preparing a new batch of calculators with newest firmware.

On the bright side, it seems that also relatively expensive calculators get sold quite a bit! Summoning Tim. I know that it is surely NDA, but could be possible to know whether the Prime has a good outlook or a bad outlook (that is, at least is not generating losses)? Wikis are great, Contribute :) |

I should clarify...
There are vendors on Amazon selling the Prime, but it looks like Amazon isn't selling it as of now. Scott BTW, HP has them back in stock. |

Le mois d'août = France morte To be honest, France has been dragging herself into the global market for quite a few years now and the country coming to a halt in August is no longer that general. Nor is the concept of closing for several hours during the day or nothing being open at all on a Monday. |

(02-20-2018 01:31 PM)Eddie W. Shore Wrote: Stopping all production for 2 to 4 weeks: that's quite an extended break All businesses who produce in China have to plan around CNY or they will run out of inventory. CNY is an extended break for many reasons. Heading into the CNY celebration, workers will often begin leaving the factory city they work in early to make it home, which can be some distance away from where they work and China is a VERY big country. :-) So capacity at the factory and also at the suppliers the factory uses begins to decline a week or two before the formal holiday begins. Then you have the actual shutdown. Returning from the holiday takes a while because people have to travel back to the factory city and many **may never come back** having found a job closer to home. This means that capacity and production are often a slow ramp after the holiday, since the workforce has to be ramped back up and trained. Lesson: If you need 100 units a month, then in Oct/Nov/Dec you need to make sure you have ordered enough inventory to get you through a potential 2 month dry spell. Of course... all your competitors think that way too and so it is a game of chicken. You don't want that extra inventory early because that involves tying up your capital. but if you wait too long, the factory may be busy building product for your competitor or someone else in Oct/Nov/Dec and they may have no capacity or raw materials for your order. So...what to do? :-) |

The question that pops up in my mind is....do the new HP Prime's have the new key color scheme? (not to revive an old thread). ;-)

RE: HP Prime out of stock on Amazon and HP Site
I can see there's a lot of distribution specialists on the forum.
Don't worry about Prime being discontinued, or sales not being enough. There's more than enough stock available. The HP store is a 'reseller' just like any other and if they haven't ordered in time or have sold a lot without forecasting/expecting this, it might happen they run out of stock. So, who wants to buy some Prime? We have enough! Product Manager HP for MORAVIA Consulting, the EMEA & AP Licensee for HP Calculators. http://www.hpcalcs.com |

True, but then it would appear on the site but be reported as "out of stock", just like the others on the HP UK store at least. It doesn't even appear. https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/xferp...cstore.jpg The same 4 calculators remain there, and no others, if you push the maximum price on the left up to £5220. |

Whatever the strategy is, the only scientific calculator you can buy direct from HP now is a cheap piece of rebranded Casio trash.
Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard must be spinning in their graves now. |
