RE: New Version: 2016.08.29 r10637
I've downloaded the new connectivity kit and tried an update but the CK crashes every time.

RE: New Version: 2016.08.29 r10637
On the Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10 Anniversary Update, I get the same errors as others have reported:
-- Error when attempting to run the Connectivity Kit: "HP Connectivity Kit has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution." -- Error when attempting to run the Virtual Calculator: "The application has crashed and will be restarted." However, I have been able to unzip all the files in the HP_Prime_Calculator_Firmware_20160829 file. Now that I have these files, can I upgrade my calculator the old-fashioned way (before we had the Connectivity Kit)? If so, can you please remind us how to do that? Thanks. |

RE: New Version: 2016.08.29 r10637
I would like to state that I am also experiencing the CK-has-stopped-working run-time error and the VC-application-has-crashed run-time error that others have experienced (notably on tablet devices), but in my case the errors are on one of my Win-10 laptops.
A few added particulars: I have two laptops on which I have installed the CK and VC, both are running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update; the CK and VC software works on my Dell XPS 15 laptop and fails on my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 laptop. I attempted to repair/uninstall/re-install the VC software multiple times—with variations—no success. Having read something concerning the MS C++ Redistributable, I also reinstalled first the 2013 version and then all the others: still no success. Awaiting a solution, Tim ter |

HP Prime Virtual Calculator runs fine on My Lenovo G40-70 laptop with Windows 10 Anniversary update. I have downloaded the installer file via direct link.
The old version r10077 ran well on my laptop also. Curiousity that occurred with me: no App have been deleted after I updated VC to r10637. (I have only Graph 3D app installed on my Virtual Calculator!!!) |

RE: New Version: 2016.08.29 r10637
My CK and VC also crash on an SP3. For those working through it, I have tried everything including reinstalling windows from scratch, so it doesn't appear to be related to something already installed, it's something specific to *some* SP3 setups (and perhaps some SP4's as was noted). From what I know it doesn't seem to happen on *every* SP3 though .
Also just checked on my wife's SP4, I get the same crash on there too (same as what is being reported). |

Updated Connectivity Kit, Virtual Calculator, and Hardware Calculator by way of the USB 3.0 port on my HP ENVY desktop running Windows 10 Home Edition. It took two tries with the Virtual and Hardware calculators because the update hung up.
All my apps appear to be working. I haven’t yet explored all the changes yet. |

The problem is that they were "enabled" in the CAS as a function, but didn't actually calculate anything (since internally that only has code paths which use a GPL library not included in Prime). So to avoid any potential confusion the functions were disabled. That doesn't mean it won't be turned back on at some point in the future, but for now implementing that isn't a priority. You can also use the connectivity kit for either real device or emulator. Right click on the calculator in the tree and click on the "Get screen capture". RE: New Version: 2016.08.29 r10637
This is my first post ever on the internet !
To the hp team in general and to Tim Wessman and Cyril Brébisson in particular. First of all, HUGE congratulations for the hp prime ! On june 2015 , I've bought my first prime and was quite happy with it knowing it's the best calculator on the market. Yes i'm a hp fan boy!! Knowing firmware 1077 was a troublemaker I've waited until september 2016. One week ago I tried and failed to update while using usbtool as cannot open the CK(I'm trying to open CK since june 2015). I contacted hp support and received a new device on friday 16/09/2016 . But before receiving that new device , I've bought a new one with the more readable buttons. That new one is updated with firmware 1077 , and WOW !! It's a new perspective on science . Hence my HUGE CONGRATULATIONS ! ! ! I'm now a prime-addicted. Now to my requests ! 1) I'm about to buy another prime as a back up, in order to do that I'd like to be able to upgrade . HELP ME ! 2)I'd like to submit to the hp team my dream machine ! Lenght : 21 cm , Width :10cm , screen : 10cm*10cm , a 2 ghz processor (smartphone can do it) a spreadsheet as good as MS EXCEL , ability to print on a A4 paper , ability to use a micro sd card up to 128 go , 2 go rom, any capabilities a 2 ghz processor implies , a 3000 mah battery at least ! THAK YOU IN ADVANCE . |
