Even though the examples are in Fortran and PL/1, every programmer should read Kernigham and Plauger "Elements of Programming Style". A couple of my favorite quotes:
"Floating point numbers are like sandpiles: every time you move one, you lose a little sand and pick up a little dirt" "Everyone knows that debugging is twice as hard as writing a program in the first place. So if you’re as clever as you can be when you write it, how will you ever debug it?" |
