Maybe I should also mention that even when I have been using Linux desktops in the last 15 years, it was either an ancient CentOS install that I VNCed into from a Mac, running only Eclipse on the Linux box while doing all desktop-type stuff on the Mac... or it was one of my Ubuntu VMs that I pretty much use for nothing else than building and debugging the GTK version of Free42.
