Hi Chris, I had the same issue. Due to our UK lockdown I just finished designing and 3D printing the "unobtainium" power plugs for my HP-75 and HP-71. They are presumably the same as for your HP-97.
If you contact me I'll either send you the STL file to print, or a ready made-up lead to add to any small 8Vac transformer. The transformer must be small (about 3.5VA), so the poor regulation makes sure the on-load voltage to the calculator is kept low.
The plugs use the TE 350417-1 .093" female crimp connectors available from Farnell in small quantities. These connectors are a perfect fit - just like the originals.
