If the input file is not a multiple of 8 bytes, then you can save it with padding zeros to make it a multiple of 8.

Good idea! This reduces the transfer time by about 20% in my test. So it will not make a huge difference, at least for me.

Nothing failed for me. I just asked the question out of curiosity, because I thought you knew the answer. I will not investigate this question as long as nothing crashes.
