I believe you, but I am curious as to the reason behind this advice. NiMH batteries have similar voltage as NiCd batteries, so I would assume it is related to the internal resistance. If so, I'm surprised that at relatively low current that this would make an appreciable difference.

Or perhaps it's something else I haven't thought of.
