When I saw this topic I sprang to my keyboard and registered so that I can point out that The Oughtred Society is a great source for articles about early computing.
Also wanted to mention the Otis King Calculator. The Model L had two logarithmic scales and a linear "L" scale. This arrangement is sufficient to multiply, divide, and calculate arbitrary powers and roots. |
