RE: Using casio fx-CG500 as a Digital Diary ??
I did a bit more experimenting to satisfy my own curiosity. The fx-CG50 and fx-9750GIII both let you password protect programs. These models also let you mount them like a USB flash drive, and access the programs and data in main memory. Adding a password does NOT encrypt the contents of the program (just confirmed this myself). So the password protection doesn't do anything once the data is copied off of the calculator. If you want to take this approach, it might be slightly safer to use the older fx-9860GII, which doesn't have the USB mounting feature (you have to use the fa-124 software to copy files, so you get a little bit more security-through-obscurity). Or if you want to be extra safe, get an old fx-8700G (not the GB model) which has no link port for exfiltrating data.
Anyway, something to consider if you don't find anything for the 50G that meets your needs. |
