RE: HP 9114 Repair Parts
Hi Dave,
many thanks for the combined info:-) I currently have an A and a B drive. The A drive had the (I think) typical problem of a nonfunctional disk case lift mechanism. It turned out to be a mechanical problem. One of the slide bolts on the right side wasn't sliding due to missing lube. You couldn't insert or eject a disk. After applying some lube to the said part it worked fine again. From the mechanical construction I assume this is one of the main reasons for drive mechanism failures, since this bolt doesn't have a real bearing but only a rivet holding it in place. The B drive would work fine, if there wasn't the spindle motor which revs up when trying to access the disk. Since it looks like a direct drive motor (I may be wrong) , and the driver bolt in place, I don't know why the motor just hauls permanently instead of simply positioning the disk and stopping. Any ideas? -- Ray |
