I think Eric described it quite well above.
I've seen two cases were we get a corrupt result.

1)
If the resulting HEX-value contains 'E' or 'F' the DEC-value is wrong.

2)
Values of the form 60+n*80 or 61+n*80 will also be wrong, the result R will be shown as R-10+0xA or R-11+0xB and the last digit (A or B) will be shown in HEX (except when R contains E or F in HEX mode, then rule 1 above is valid.
