After more investigation ...

I was able to cut the transfer time by three by configuring the FTDI Windows virtual com port.

1) Show Device Manager dialog.

2) Select the COM port and show Property dialog.

3) Select Port Setting tab and press the advanced button.
[attachment=110]
4) Change the Latency Timer (msec) from 16 to 1 then press all the OK buttons
