I most cases the paper advance is not working any more. There are on both sides small transport wheels which are worn out or dried out or malformed over the years.

This is nearly the same as with the cardreader.

I didn’t disassemble the fabric but the print head, and I did a good job at damaging the fabric. I managed after some efforts to « repair » it, the future will tell me if I did a good job at this !

The wheels on each side are not perfect but they aren’t too bad.
