JFTR, the damage to the battery compartment that you describe happens specifically because of the insane pressure exerted on the batteries by the springs in the battery compartment. That pressure is transferred to the battery door.
It would be better to remove the batteries to avoid further damage. Current daily drivers: HP-41CL, HP-15C, HP-16C |
