RE: [WP 34S v3.3] Manuals batch 2
To all who have contributed to creating the WP 34S,
I am a devoted calculator user since the early 1970’s since I discovered my father’s SR-51. I learned about the WP 34S a couple of weeks ago on the HP Prime forum and downloaded a manual (edition 3.1). It seemed too good to be true, such a well-designed machine with such a high-quality documentation. I received my first WP 34S a few days ago from Eric Rechlin at hpcalc.org, a professionally done modification of the HP-30b. I have to say I am completely amazed by the WP 34S. It does so many things right, the way a hand-held calculator should work. LIke high precision and performance, intelligent power and memory management, and good keyboard design (both color and placement) in a lightweight package, for starters. In addition, local variables in programs, creative and intelligent use of the display, and so many useful functions. I was pleased to discover it has 16 digit precision (the highest floating point precision of any calculator I know of) but then I was completely blown away by the 34 digit double precision mode. Together with the NEIGHB and ULP functions, this makes it the perfect machine for calculating on ill-conditioned problems. I am looking forward to using it as my main calculator. Peter |
