Regarding our HP/Epson printer experiences
"I got a factory refurbished Epson Ecotank ET-3850. It's not B size, "
We bought that printer to replace the HP OfficeJet 8260 (the printhead holder failed). The Epson has been good, but a few months ago we found out it doesn't FAX! Nor does it hook to WiFi (phone apps) and the Ethernet LAN at the same time. In order to do one or the other, I have to change that setting and power cycle it. Nor does it scan/copy to USB or any memory card. (but it cost less than half of the original price of the HP) Regarding the HP, Sam's Club (Members Mark) ink cartridges work well in it. But there are a couple of off brand suppliers that leaked the ink a lot! Anyway I bought replacement printhead holder/carrier online from China for $38. It didn't work! (no returns). HP's price for the part when it was available was over $130! Shortly thereafter someone on Craig's List had a free HP 8xx0 series to give away. The amount of ink that had leaked from its off market cartridges shorted out the Power Supply when I plugged it in. Fortunately, the printhead holder/carriage worked after cleaning with alcohol! And worked perfectly with the old HP 8260. So now it sits out in the shop (unplugged) waiting for us to send any faxes! I threw out our previous HP OfficeJet (years ago) because it wouldn't load paper. I later found online a simple fix for that!
