2 Formulas

2.1 Introduction to Computer Languages

   To solve problems in natural science, mathematical calculations are often carried out. If the same formula has to be used frequently with varying values, setting up a standard computer program may be useful. For simple formulas a programmable pocket calculator may be used, however, doing the same job on a PC is usually much simpler, and has the advantage that the program can be saved for later use or transferred elsewhere.
   As an example, let us try to program the following simple mathematical formula
          y = e(-b∙t)/(1+t)
   The program for the pocket calculator SR56 from Texas Instruments looks like this
