Just ordered my first SwissMicros... DM42n

That's the opposite. DB50X, the version targeting the DM32, would be much more comfortable to use without overlay, see my previous answers. (I'm trying to play a game of whack-a-mole with this incorrect rumour about DB50X matching the DM32 keyboard layout: it does not).

I'm this close to pulling the trigger on the DM42n. It's a lot of cash for a piece of obsolete tech but it would be a fun toy.

Don't sell yourself short too - the waiting for the toys is half of the fun or more.
